Description

Bring the traditional Samoan legend of Sina and the Eel into your classroom with this engaging print-and-go storytelling resource. Featuring a collection of beautifully hand-drawn illustrations, these storytelling images can be used alongside your favourite picture book or oral retelling of the legend, as an independent sequencing activity, for small-group retells, story baskets, drama, literacy rotations, or creative writing prompts.

  • A suggested storytelling script & image sequencing pages (12 short sentences) are included to support young learners as they develop oral language, sequencing, vocabulary, and story retelling skills.
  • Perfect for early years and primary classrooms, this resource provides a meaningful way to explore one of Samoa’s treasured traditional origin stories and the legend behind the coconut.

This set of illustrations can be used in a variety of ways – simply print, cut & laminate your set of pictures then:

  • Glue small magnets on the back or attach blue tac. You can then move, add & layer the images on your whiteboard as you retell the story with the kids. (*Simple storytelling card with suggested illustrations and sequence is also included)
  • Add the illustrations to a wall display—the kids could add their own images to match.
  • You could create speech and thought bubbles to share what the characters in the story are experiencing
  • Add the illustrations to your reading tumble! They could be used to support the retelling or acting out of this myth, to re-sequence the story or inspire some writing or artwork…
