I got a request from a lovely junior school teacher who was on the hunt for a simple ‘back to school’ social story to use to help prepare her class for the return to school. After an unprecedented 6-7 weeks of home learning, level 2 is finally approaching! *Scroll down for Māori only version, Samoan only version plus booklets worded ‘daycare’ & kindy!’.
As lovely as it is to see some ‘light at the end of the lock-down tunnel,’ this change in routine will be really unsettling for some of our little learners, and this will understandably bring many new emotions for both children and teachers (and parents!)
A simple social story is an easy way address the emotional needs of your class by getting them prepared for the changes ahead. It also helps you to better gauge in advance what they’re expecting or have concerns about.
You can either print the resource & assemble as a booklet by cut the pages in half & ordering before securing with staples, OR Share the PDF as a simple ‘scroll-through’ resource for digital use.
