🧠 I needed a creative hook-in for one of my sma

🧠 I needed a creative hook-in for one of my small groups (that aren't feeling too enthusiastic about talking about emotions) so I crocheted a giant brain 😂 (he was supposed to be life-sized, but ended up HUGE - 35cm-ish across? ...which has added to the silliness!)

He's hollow, with an opening at the back, and the kids have written down the ideas they'd like to talk about this term to put inside our 'thinking-brain' (feeling worried, stressed about certain subjects, nervous about cross country, feeling frustrated etc) We're taking turns to pull out an idea from the "thinking brain" for us to talk about each session.

The kid's responses to the brain have been hilarious, and the best part has been being able to say things like: "I've lost my mind, has anyone seen it?", "Has anyone seen Rosie's giant brain?" There's definitely a pattern to the concerns that our young people share, so I've made up some matching 'brain-card' for the most commonly mentioned ones to save a bit of time. Does anyone want a free copy of these? I can upload to the blog if needed?

➡️ Next on the crochet list, an anatomical heart-friend in a similar style (so they can hold hands 🥰) and we can talk about our "head and our heart/feelings working together" 🧠➕️🫀🟰✅️

📚 Is this Library-decor makeover season?! There have been SO MANY requests recently for different library resources!

❓️ What's everyone doing with their school library classification systems these days? It's been fascinating to watch the swing towards Non-Dewey ways of organising and grouping books.... but whatever your flavour, there's something in these new releases for everyone! (*and if there's something not quite perfect, each new set also comes with an editable file so you can personalise things for your kura!)

Custom made for an educator working for Harold over at The Life Education trust 🦒

🐦‍🔥 NEW RELEASE: Classroom Kākahu (cloak) collaborative posters! Wrap your children in the warm and colourful embrace of a classroom Kākahu...

🪽3 versions available (just search 'Kākahu' on the Green Grubs website)

1️⃣ A detailed feather version - great for a guided art activity (hot & cool colours etc) and creates a rich and detailed finished look.

2️⃣ A plain feather version - great if you were wanting to include some text (such as children’s names/keywords) on the feathers, or have the children create their own individual patterns before colouring.

3️⃣ Classroom Kākahu with no base feathers - you may want to add tassels/tags to create a traditional Korowai. This version of the cloak has lots of clear space for including wording such as school values or mottos etc.

🌈🪶 Also newly released - a set of rainbow feathers and Kākahu as clip art images to embellish your own special project...

🐦‍🔥 All sets include extra optional feathers to add in overlapping layers to your completed Kākahu for a 3D effect (a layer around the collar gives the perfect finishing touch).
