I taught the Kids to knit this school holidays!
We started off with a double ended scarf (so the twins could work on the same project at the same time) ….and then things escalated ….and now we’re knitting the longest scarf in the world (apparently 3.5 metres at this morning’s official measure!) We also made some more kiwi-appropriate knitting rhymes to help remind us about the basics of knit and purl – would anyone like a printable copy of these? You can find them in the link below! It’s been a lovely thing to have lying around – the kids are jumping on and adding a few lines and here & there, and I’m picking up stitches and getting creative while binge watching Criminal Minds – it’s been a total win-win.Ā
I’m going to take it to school to add to my before-school picnic blanket activities, hopefully some whÄnau will stop by and add a couple of lines to our project, or sit and chat. In my role as Family Support person, I’m always looking for more ways to connect with our wider school family, especially our new migrant whÄnau and the older generation, so hopefully this will provide an opportunity for people to pause and connect – I’ll keep you updated!
