Description
Where are you from? Ko taku maunga ko…….. (My mountain is……)
This wall display pack takes a slightly different approach to the traditional “getting to know you” activities often used in the first few weeks of term. Rather than asking students to share lots of personal information all at once, this display offers a gentle, inclusive way for tamariki to introduce an important place that is meaningful to them – their mountain (maunga).
Perfect for reception areas, cloak bays, or classroom welcome walls, this display encourages connection & conversation while honouring each child’s identity and sense of place. Students and whānau can participate at their own level, making it suitable for a wide range of ages and classroom contexts.
This resource works beautifully as a standalone display or as a starting point for further pepeha learning later in the year. Pack includes a display header, borders, little mountain cards, speech bubbles plus a selection of writing templates.
THIS RESOURCES CONTAINS:
- A selection of display headings in bilingual Māori/English labels, plus English & Māori only
- 2 sizes to choose from – A3 & A4
- 6 mountain labels & speech bubbles per vertical page (*these mountain labels can be used to record the names of all the Maunga that are of importance to your students OR print extra, laminate and use them to make mountain borders for your wall display)
- A slection of writing templates and prompts (both lined and unlined) for students to record their thoughts about their maunga (mountain)
