Description

Investigate the unusual life of one of Aotearoa’s special native frogs – the Pepeketua/Hochstetter’s frog. Did you know that they belong to an ancient and primitive family that no longer exists anywhere else in the world? They haven’t changed much in 70 million years!

*It make an interesting life cycle to compare and contrast to other frog species, as Hochstetter’s frogs do not have a free-swimming tadpole stage, they hatch from their eggs with a pair of legs ready to go! ***Keep an eye out for our matching ‘Green & Golden bell frog’ life cycle set coming soon!
